MAD

When I first appeared on the internet, I use to hang around forums a lot. That is when I discovered these videos called MAD or as we call them AMV which stands for Anime Music Video. Below is a short description about what is a MAD video.

MAD is a modern Japanese term referring to parody/remix videos and audio clips that have been edited and re-arranged by “creative-secondary” authors. A typical MAD movie is put together by combining visual fragments of anime/manga with edited anime/j-pop soundtrack; it varies in length from a few seconds to several minutes and may not even include any music at all, mainly for comical effect. Because MAD movies are created in parodical nature with their own unique narrative plots, they should be distinguished from fan-made videos and artworks that are still based on the original canons. Thanks to popular video-sharing communities like Nico Nico Douga, MAD artworks have become an essential base of Japanese internet culture.

I was so interested in them that I decided to try to make some myself. The first MAD I make was using an episode from Shakugan no Shana II with the song Goodbye by SR-71. I found the song by searching ‘good songs to use in AMVs’. This was received very well, I hope you enjoy it!

The second MAD I created using the anime AIR and Numb by Linkin Park. I always did thought that English songs sounded better when making these videos but the problems was I rarely listened to any English songs, so sourcing the right songs to use was always a difficult task. This one was poorly made, from the feedback I had received.

This one was created with Negima + Myself Yourself by Alice Music (Touhou Doujin). Let me know what you think!

Finally here is my uncompleted MAD of FMP: Fumoffu, I don’t think I will ever complete it though.

Now, I don’t really have any desire to continue making these anymore, just though I would re-post these from Chiu’s Figures.
