Figmaでクリスマス、まずはツリー!

Sadly this year I haven’t been able to create any papercrafts. So here is a repost from Chiu’s Figures 2 years ago.

Its almost Christmas and the figures at Kobayo are starting to decorate the place. As the title says ‘first is the tree’. You may remember the Christmas tree Hirai Yukari built 3 years ago on Chiu’s Figures, after Christmas which was too late. But now the Shana X BRS featuring Asukura Ryoko team will construct this amazing paper tree.

Firstly you will require some card, I used some perforated business card card. It’s all I could find although I don’t recommend using it because it tears too easily along the perforated lines. It worked fine last year so should be fine this year.

Go here http://www.figma.jp/pdf/XmasTree.pdf and download the pdf for the tree. Now just print it out on to the card and it should look something like this. If you have a laser colour printer then it will turn out sugoi if not inkjet is still ok like me. I didn’t have any ink in my printer since the last time I made this tree lol, so I ran down to get some since I needed to print shipping labels in colour (@[email protected]). AND they were so expensive $100 OMG.

Some utilities you may need sharp scissors, sharp glue (oh is so pointy!) and a sharp stanley knife and cutting mat which are optional but may provide useful.

figma_christmas_06

Obviously cut it out, cutting consume a lot of your life I mean time. Last year it took about 2 hours but this year it became 3 hours, maybe we should have a figma xmas tree cutting competitions and you post your times here. (^o^)/

figma_christmas_07

Make this into a cube.

figma_christmas_08

YAY!

figma_christmas_09

Now to make the trunk use a pen/pencil’s body as a guide and roll this like sushi.

figma_christmas_10

It should turn out something like this.

figma_christmas_11

The base is a little tricky but…

figma_christmas_12

It should turn out like this.

figma_christmas_13

Naturally the leaves turn out like this…

figma_christmas_14

Shana X BRS team featuring Asukura Ryoko come out to help!!! Finally!

figma_christmas_15

Shana: “…”

BRS: “huu!”

Asukura: “ufu”

figma_christmas_16

“huu”

huu = the sound one makes when exerting energy

figma_christmas_17

Applying the glue.

figma_christmas_18

Shana’s placing the leaves on the tree.

figma_christmas_19

BRS: “weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”

Shana: “WTF O_o”

figma_christmas_20

BRS: “やった!出来ました!”

 And finally the star!

figma_christmas_21

The tree is complete! it took over 7 hours!!! why??? these figures are so slow, I managed it in 4 hours with Hirai-san last year.

figma_christmas_22

So what do you think? not bad for business cards and inkjet printers. But this year we will take it one step further. How??? Christmas lights??? oh god no! presents!!! ehh???

figma_christmas_23
